Cansino Vaccine Side Effects: What to Expect After the Shot

Sana Zia:4/23/2025

The Cansino vaccine, a one-dose COVID-19 vaccine developed by China’s CanSino Biologics, has been introduced in the world, with countries that wanted to vaccinate large populations quickly administering it. Given the convenience of one jab, it is natural to know about the Cansino vaccine side effects. It can be valuable to know ahead of time what to expect after getting the shot, so that people can prepare and respond accordingly.

Common Cansino vaccine side effects

Most people who get the Cansino vaccine have mild to moderate side effects that typically subside within a few days. The most common side effects reported for the Cansino vaccine are:

• Pain at the injection site:

A sore arm is probably the most common complaint. It may hurt or be a little swollen, but usually goes away within 24 to 48 hours.

• Fatigue and tiredness:

Many recipients say they feel far more tired than they would normally expect for a day or two after vaccination.

• Headache:

Another common reaction that tends to be mild and short-lived.

• Fever or chills:

The body’s immune response may trigger a low-grade fever and body chills.

• Muscle pain:

Some people may experience generalised muscle aches, comparable to flu-like symptoms.

These Cansino vaccine side effects are usually a sign that the body is building protection, or immunity, and are nothing to be worried about.

Less common but possible reactions

Though uncommon, some individuals may feel other side effects such as:

• Nausea

• Joint pain

• Dizziness

Such reactions are generally mild and temporary. Drinking lots of fluids, resting, and taking over-the-counter pain relievers can help ease discomfort. But it’s advisable to check with a health provider before taking any medication after vaccination.

Serious side effects: Are they a concern?

The risk of a severe allergic reaction to the Cansino vaccine is extremely small. However, people are generally monitored for 15–30 minutes after receiving the vaccine so that immediate medical attention can be provided if a rare adverse reaction occurs. If someone has trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or a rapid heartbeat after the shot, they should get emergency medical help.

It’s also important to mention that, as with other COVID-19 vaccines, the Cansino vaccine was subject to a rigorous series of clinical trials to assess safety and efficacy. The temporary Cansino vaccine side effects are insignificant compared to its benefits in preventing severe symptoms of COVID-19.

Final thoughts

Having side effects with any vaccine is a good sign — it means your immune system is working. What is most important, however, is that while no matter the medical interventions without risk, the Cansino vaccine side effects are mild and manageable. Being aware and prepared provides for a more comfortable experience after vaccination as well as enhances trust to respond against COVID-19 in case required.
